With the increase in access to court information state legislatures have begun to look at how much data is available and how quickly it is being updated. 2016 now sees the Arizona House debating the subject in the form of HB 2004.
Under the terms of the bill those courts that have a “publicly accessible and searchable case record database” would be required to post “a clear and concise disposition” for each case within 30 days including
- whether the case was dismissed
- whether the person was found guilty or responsible or not guilty or not responsible or pled no contest
- whether any other final judgment was rendered
HB 2004 has been assigned to the House Judiciary Committee.
