First Texas, now Florida considers ending the practice of paying judges monthly

I mentioned last year that the Texas legislature had abandoned the practice of paying out its trial court judges on a monthly basis. Now, it appears Florida is considering an end to the practice as well.

Current law (F.S. 26.51) provides “The salaries of circuit judges to be paid by the state shall be paid in equal monthly installments.”

Amid the myriad of provisions in HB 7003 related to the courts is a section that repeals F.S. 26.51 outright.

HB 7003 has been prefiled in the House with no committee assignment.
